2023-06-01
The National Maritime Academy (NMA) of Saudi Arabia is delighted to announce that it has achieved centre recognition as of 1st June 2023. The UK Chamber of Shipping recognition scheme offers independently verified as a best-in-class Maritime Education and Training Centre and essential international benchmarking. To achieve this significant international accolade, the NMA had to demonstrate its ability to comply with a series of good practice criteria whilst also demonstrating its capability to provide effective education and training to meet the needs of the maritime industry.
Kathryn Neilson, Assessor for the UK Chamber of Shipping, commented:
“The NMA’s outstanding Quality Management System has been designed and created to ensure that every aspect of the operation has a clear and structured process to ensure students, staff and key stakeholders have a structured and safe environment in which to operate where students and staff alike are valued, nurtured, and developed. Over the course of my visit, I have observed industry-leading practices which I will be keen to share with the other recognised centres.”
Capt. Turki Al Shehri, the Managing Director of the NMA said:
“The UK is reputable globally for having a proud Maritime legacy and strives to innovate through producing well-equipped graduates to lead the maritime industry of tomorrow. The NMA is still relatively new, and to have already achieved this prestigious recognition regarding its quality and approach to education is a tremendous achievement for us as a team at the Academy and for the Kingdom. This gives us the confidence that we are building a solid foundation for the Kingdom’s Maritime future.”
A spokesperson from the UK Chamber of Shipping said:
“Through our Recognition services, we recognise and reward the excellent standards of training delivered to our seafarers by national and international Maritime training centres. We are delighted that The National Maritime Academy of Saudi Arabia have met our very demanding standards and now join our other five gold standard centres with the Centre Recognition accolade.”
The NMA continues expanding and growing its provision of top-tier Maritime Education and Training in the Kingdom to provide its graduates with the best possible education, training and certification. This includes their hard technical skills and competencies as well as their human and meta-skills, allowing them to foster a love of learning and challenge to thrive and become the industrial leaders of tomorrow.
